Yes, the Carpod Walled, Folding Cargo Carrier # M2205-01-02 will fit your 2013 Ford Escape providing your trailer hitch has a 2 inch receiver.

Personally, I would pick this one in a heartbeat if I still had kids at home and had to carry sporting equipment, backpacks or other odd shaped cargo. I also like the 5 inch shank rise, you can never have too much ground clearance.

With that being said, the measurement from the center of the pin hole to where the shank begins to rise is 2-1/2 inches. You will want to verify that this will not interfere with the bumper on your vehicle.

My research shows that your vehicle has a 350 lb tongue weight rating which means that the most you can carry on your hitch is 350 lbs which includes the weight of the carrier which is approximately 70 lbs. This will leave you with 280 lbs that can be used for cargo. I need to add that 280 lbs is a lot of cargo!

As far as your license plate, you will need to contact your states DOR (department of revenue). Each state has different requirement regarding the use of the back license plate. If you happen to need a license plate holder the Optronics Enclosed Cargo Licensense Plate Holder # LP35BB would work.

More than likely when towing this carrier your tail light performance will be impeded. I recommend using the Optronics Magnetic Mount # TL21RK. This is an economical solution that is easy to use. I have attached a brief video demonstration of the lights.

The last item to think about is security for when your carrier is left unattended. The Roadmaster Lock Set # RM-304 contains two padlocks for your cargo carrier and a hitch lock as well.
