If your 2020 Ford Explorer XLT was not prepped with a tow package from the factory you will not have the wiring needed for adding a 7-way and brake controller.
First you will need the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118599 to tie into the tail lights on your Explorer. This will then plug into the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7. The kit gives you the wiring and circuit breakers you will need to be able to install a trailer brake controller and charge line.
I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR for your Explorer. This is a proportional controller capable of operating the brakes on up to 2 braking axles. You are able to control the brakes from a small knob that gets mounted to your dash. A Universal Wiring Harness # RED69FR is needed to wire in the controller to the installation kit mentioned above.
