Distance Below Bed of Curt Overbed, Folding Gooseneck For 2002 Dodge Ram

Question:

I have just purchased a 2002 Dodge 2500 diesel truck with an 8 ft bed. The truck has a custom exhaust and Im concerned about how far below the bed the hitch extends. Im confident the drop in hitches will conflict with the exhaust but it looks like the Curt folding ball hitch might have sufficient clearance. The previous owner welded a channel across the frame and covered up the holes in the frame. So, I will have to pull the bed to clean up the frame rails but the truck runs too good to be messing with the exhaust. Thanks for your help.

Per Curt, the distance below the bed will be 3-3/8 inches on your 2002 Dodge Ram for the Curt Overbed, Folding Ball Gooseneck Trailer Hitch with Installation Kit # C61509-52.

That should give you a good idea if you have the necessary space to install the hitch in your Dodge. If you do have the space, and also need a gooseneck wiring harness, the correct fit for your truck is the Fifth Wheel and Gooseneck Wiring Harness with 7-Pole # 20111.
