Recommended Way To Transport Two E-Bikes On Rear Of My 2017 Lance 2185 Travel Trailer
Question:
I have a 2017 Lance 2185 and want to add a 2inch receiver hitch to the bumper to allow me to carry a couple of e-bikes. I have a SWAGMAN E-Spec and I think it weighs 60 lbs. My e-bikes also weigh about 60 lbs with batteries installed so I am looking at about 180 lbs. Is there a bolt on hitch that will work or do I need to attach to the frame? Thanks!

You will have to check your 2017 Lance 2185 owner's manual and find out your travel trailer bumper's maximum weight capacity. If your bumper can handle the weight, my recommendation is the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22" to 72" Wide, part # 13703. It can be welded or bolted on to your travel trailer. Please keep in mind, bolting this travel hitch to your frame will required drilling into your frame. The welded option and the bolted on option will have the same maximum tongue weight, 350 lbs, and the same maximum gross trailer weight, 3,500 lbs. Once this travel hitch is installed you can use it with your Swagman E-Spec Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Frame Mount, part # S94FR.
I have included product description links, a video review of the trailer hitch, and a video of this trailer hitch being installed below.
