Why Wont Bike Rack Fit into Draw Tite Hitch # 24839

Question:

Ordered this hitch so I could install a bike rack. However I’m unable to install the rack because of some bars underneath the hitch prevents me from sliding the bike rack sufficiently to secure the rack. Not happy since I understood this was the only hitch suitable for m car.

Sounds like what's going on is that you have a Class II bike rack and you are trying to install it in the Class I Draw Tite part # 24839 that you referenced. The bar or weld splatter you found in your hitch tube is what's preventing the rack from fitting all the way into the hitch but it's there to prevent the heavier duty accessories from fitting into it which could potentially damage it. It's probably not the solution you were hoping to hear but your best option is to go with a bike rack designed for Class I hitches like the Hollywood Racks Trail Rider part # HR200Z.
