How to Measure for Correct Axle Replacement
Question:
How do I measure a axle for a rv trailer is a 6 lug axle
asked by: Linbergh R
Expert Reply:
To replace your axle you'll want to measure your hub-face (A) and spring-seat (B) dimensions of your current axle (see attached) and choose one with the same measurements. You also want to make sure the weight ratings match up as well.
For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles # 7461121 has 95" hub-face and 80" spring-center measurements. This axle doesn't come with brakes or a hub so you'll either need to transfer ones from your current axle or you would need the electric # 23-105-106-09 or hydraulic # AKUBRK-7 brake kit as well as a hub/drum assembly like part # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K.
If these axle dimensions don't match up with what you have just let me know what you ended up measuring and I'll be more than happy to assist you!
