Recommended Electric Bike Carrier For A Gulf Stream Travel Trailer
Question:
I am trying to carry 2 ebikes while pulling a rv trailer, gulf stream 17 RWD. I have the stabilizer ball and arms. The pulling vehicle is a Mitsubishi outlander with a rated tow capacity of 3500#. Would this extension reduce the towing weight capacity for just down load capacity? The trailer is 250# tung weight. Would it be better to mount a bike rack on the a frame of the trailer tongue? It would be nice to keep the bikes low as they are heavy to load. I assume a mount on the back of the RV is not a good idea. Thanks for your suggestions. It is a knotty problem for me.

When it comes to carrying electric bikes on your Gulf Stream travel trailer using The Malone 2 inch Dual Purpose Hitch Receiver # MPG544 will reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent. Since your 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander has a tongue weight of 350 pounds it will drop down to 175 pounds.
I recommend putting The Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs, 22 inch to 66 inch Wide # C13704 on the back of your travel trailer. It is a bolt on style hitch that will fit a 22 inch to 66 inch frame. It will have a tongue weight of 500 pounds. It has a high-gloss black powder coat finish that helps resist rust, corrosion, and is resistant to scratches and UV damage.
With the hitch installed on your Gulf Stream The Lets Go Aero V-Lectric FAT PRO Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # LGA77FR will work well with the hitch on your Gulf Stream. You can carry two bikes and it can carry 75 pounds per bike. It comes with an integrated ramp that will help you load your bikes on the bike rack.
