5th Wheel Hitch Suggestions for 2022 Ford F-250 Short Bed

My 2022 Ford F250 short bed has the factory pucks in the bed. Which 5th wheel hitch is recommended?

Expert Reply:
To provide the proper clearance between the front of the 5th wheel and the rear of the truck cab, using a sliding 5th wheel hitch is recommended.
For a manual slider, you can't go wrong with the US made B&W Companion, part # BWRVK3370. The Companion uses super-strong 1 inch thick jaws that grasp the king pin very tightly, which eliminates the king pin moving around in the jaws for a smoother more comfortable ride. The hitch has a 20K capacity.
If you'd prefer an auto sliding option, where you won't need to exit the truck to slide the hitch rearward for low speed maneuvering, the Demco Hijacker Autoslide, part # DM8550024 or an 18K or # DM8550038 for a 21K capacity is recommended. The autoslide feature works great, during turns the hitch head automatically slides rearward to allow clearance between the 5th wheel and the truck cab. The hitch head returns back to the forward position after the turn is completed.
