Suspension Enhancement Recommendations for a 2009 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Dually and Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have a 2009 Quad Cab dually with a BandW turnover ball in the bed. Looking for air bag or helper spring recommendations for towing a gooseneck horse trailer. The truck squats quite a bit when I get hooked up. Thanks.

The installation kits for gooseneck and 5th wheel trailer hitches often times will occupy the same space needed by suspension enhancement and so there can be interference issues. What you want to look for is a suspension enhancement kit that does not install in the same places as your hitch.

I recommend the Timbren springs, # TDR1500DQ for a 1500 series 2009 Dodge Ram because they fit in place of the factory bump stops. They will help prevent squat and improve ride quality. Best of all because the fit in place of the factory bump stops there will be no interference.

For a 2500 or 3500 series 2009 Ram I recommend # TDF25004B for the same reasons.

Helper springs like these are great for carrying the same or similar load frequently but they also can work independently (side to side similar to air bags) to help with various load sizes and types. I have included a link to our FAQ article on Timbren springs for you. I have also linked a couple of videos showing typical installations of these kits.
