What 7-Way and Brake Controller do You Recommend for My 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan?
Question:
I have a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. I recently installed the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, but now I need to add a electric trailer brake controller and 7-pin connector to this. Can you recommend the parts I should get to make this work? It appears the 7-pin kit has a considerable amount of duplicate parts. Thanks!

I can definitely help! The correct 7-way harness you need for your 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires # ETBC7. With this kit, you will be able to prep your vehicle by splicing the wiring into your current wiring. For assistance with installation, I attached a video that shows the process on a 2014 model Grand Caravan. The process on a 2016 model is nearly identical.
To add a brake controller, I recommend the Redarc Tow Pro Liberty # RED24FR or the Curt Echo # C51180. Both of these controllers are proportional controllers which means that the controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. The Liberty is more of a traditional-style controller that requires mounting into the dashboard of your vehicle near the steering wheel. If you decide to go this route, you need the plug-in harness # RED69FR. On the other hand, the Curt Echo allows you to control the settings of your controller with the ease of your Smart device.
