Replacement for Coker H78-14 Tires on Whitewater Retro Camper
Question:
I have a Whitewater Retro camper trailer with Coker H78-14 tires on it. I have done quite a bit of research on these tires and their use on trailers after having a total blowout of one of my tires during a camping trip last summer. The tires were only two years old and had virtually no tread wear. I was going down a straight road about 60 mph on a comfortable fall day. Apparently, Whitewater made a bad choice using these tires as the bias ply and lack of durable sidewall makes them susceptible to failure when used on a trailer. Long story, I would like to replace my Coker tires with a solid trailer tire that has the whitewall. Can you suggest the best tire for this application? Preferably US made if that’s an option as I want to support our country’s manufacturing base whenever possible. Thanks in advance

I do have a solution for replacement tires, but unfortunately we do not have any whitewall tires available. I recommend the Karrier ST215/75R14 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10229. This will be slightly smaller when compared to your current tires, but will fit your 14" wheels. It has an outer diameter of 26.8" and section width of 8.5".
This tire has a maximum load of 1,870 lbs at 50 psi with a load range C. It looks like your current tires have a capacity of 1,770 lbs so that should work well. These are radial tires with a speed rating of M for 81 mph. The tire comes with a 5-year limited warranty and a 1-year worry-free guarantee. If within the first 12 months the tire is damaged in any way, it will be replaced at no charge.
I have attached a review video for your reference.
