Ballmount for Towing Rental Trailer With 1994 GMC Jimmy
Question:
I need to haul a rented trailer, with my Jimmy. Im wondering what hitch I should get to connect to 13083 receiver. Looking ahead, if this works well, I will get my own trailer. What do you recommend out of the gate? Thanks

The Curt Class III you mentioned, part # 18083 would be an excellent choice. To choose the correct ballmount, we typically recommend measuring the receiver height of the vehicle and the coupler height of the trailer. The difference between these two measurements would be the rise or drop needed for your ballmount. If the receiver height is taller than the coupler height, use a drop. If the receiver height is lower than the coupler, use a ballmount with a rise. I have linked you to an FAQ article showing how to calculate this.
The trailer rental place should be able to tell you the coupler height of the trailer as well as what size trailer ball will be needed, but we can make an educated guess. Given that the usual coupler height of the average trailer is around 17-19 inches, we typically recommend a ballmount with a 2-inch drop, like the #C45010. If you need a 1-7/8 inch ball, go with part # 19260 or for a 2 inch ball, use part # 63845.
If you do not already have a 4-pole trailer connector, one can be installed using part # 18252.
