Can Locking Cage be Added to Reese Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier
Question:
Hi- is there a recommendation for locking items in a carrier bag on the hitch carrier, for overnight stays on the road? Perhaps some sort of steel mesh netting that could be secured to the hitch carrier with a cable lock? Thanks

We have something similar to the 20x47 Reese Cargo Carrier # 63155 that essentially has a cage around it but there isn't any kind of cage/locking mechanism for the Reese carrier aside from putting your stuff in a duffle bag and routing a cable lock through it - which wouldn't be very effective.
It sounds like you're needing a Carpod unit instead. For one with similar dimensions to the Reese carrier we have part # M2205-2201 which is just the cage or part # M2205-01-02 which comes with a cage and bag for weather protection. The lock part is compatible with padlocks that have up to a 3/8" shackle so something like the Master Lock Covered, Solid Body Padlock - 3/16" Diameter Shackle # 131D would work great.
