Would I need to purchase the SportRack short-roof adapter SR1116 for my 2010 legacy with this roof rack

I have confirmed with SportRack that the adapter is not needed for your vehicle.
Your Legacy has enough roof space to install the crossbars so that they are the required distance apart without using the short-roof adapter. The short-roof adapter is typically used on vehicles without rear doors.
