What Trailer Hitch Is Confirmed For A 2005 Honda Pilot

Question:

I have a 2005 Honda Pilot. Im planning to buy a hitch with a 350 pound tongue weight from you all. I can rent a trailer, but I would really love to tow my motorcycle with a rear rack. My bike is a 250 Honda Rebel. It weights 330 pounds dry. Do you all think maxing out the tongue weight is possible. Is the danger poor handling, car damage, or both?

When it comes to installing a trailer hitch on your 2005 Honda Pilot I recommend The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2 inch # e98851. It has a gross tongue weight up to 3,500 pounds and has a tongue weight up to 350 pounds. Per your vehicle's manual it shows you can go up to 350 pounds tongue weight. It would not do any damage to max out the tongue weight but I would not go over it. Going over the weight will cause damage to the car and lead up to poor handling. Anything under 350 pounds you'll be fine.

I also recommend The T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118336 if you ever plan on towing a trailer. It has a simple plug and play installation, and comes out as a 4 flat plug. Finally to finish your towing experience I recommend The Curt Towing Starter Kit for 2 inch Hitches - 2 inch Ball - 2 inch Rise, 4 inch Drop - 7.5K # C45554. This kit includes the ball mount, the 2 inch hitch ball, and other starter towing accessories.

I have attached an installation video link below.
