Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Compatibility For a 1972 Chevy K10 Pickup With Step Bumper
Question:
Will this hitch fit with a step bumper ?

Helpful Expert Reply:
Yes, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13028 will fit with the standard step bumper on your 1972 Chevrolet K10 pickup with 34" wide frame. This receiver is rated for a maximum tongue weight of 600lbs and trailer weight of 6,000lbs. Capacity increases to 1,000lbs of tongue weight and 10,000lbs trailer capacity when using a weight distribution hitch. Do not exceed the mechanical limits of your K10 given by Chevrolet. Drilling is required for installation.
The Curt Vehicle Wiring Harness # C58044 will tap into your tail light wiring to provide you a 4-way flat connector needed for smaller trailers. For larger trailers that use a 7-way connection the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 will provide you with the vehicle side 7-way connector and wiring needed to install a brake controller and charge line.
If you are needing a brake controller I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it is customizable and has built in diagnostic features that help detect and give solutions for issues with trailer brake wiring.
