Plug and Play 7-Way Trailer Connector for 2008 Ford F-150
Question:
Hello, Im looking into swapping my 4 pin for a 7 pin on my 08 F150. Im looking at p/ns 118247 and 118242. Which one fits my truck? Watched the vid on installing on an 04 using 118247. Everything appears the same.

Unfortunately, neither the # 118247 nor the # 118242 are a fit for the 2008 Ford F150 as Ford changed the connector under the truck after the 2003 model year (2004 for the Heritage models).
I've heard that Ford used the same connector under the vehicle on models after 2003, but simply changed the pinout, but I've been unable to confirm this.
I'd recommend hardwiring in a connector using part # HM40975-11998 which would wire into the tow package wiring forward of the connector located on the driver's side frame rail near the back axle. Although this isn't a plug and play installation, the install isn't too difficult. The # HM40975-11998 kit includes the butt connectors needed to make the splices, but I'd also recommend using heat shrink tubing like # DW05450 to protect the connections for debris and moisture.
