Trailer Wiring Recommendation for a 2001 Toyota Corolla

Would this kit have worked for my 2001 Toyota Corolla? I was told to get # 119178KIT, but its confusing how to assemble the wires.

Yes, the Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 119178KIT that you referenced is recommended for your 2001 Toyota Corolla. I wish I had specific installation instructions that would apply to your 2001 Toyota Corolla, but we have not had a chance to install this product in a Corolla like yours yet.
Basically you will need to access your tail light wiring, test for function with the included circuit tester and then wire up the unit according to the installation instructions that I attached in a link.
