What are the Different Types of Bypass Situations with Oil Coolers and Filters

Question:

I am picking up my new 2014 F350 gas engine this week. I want to put a dual oil filter relocation kit and auxiliary oil cooler as well in it. I am confused about bypass filters verses oil bypasses built into the adapter or the engine. I dont want to screw this up. With this engine, where is the bypass installed by Ford and if I put in a remote dual filter kit what do I need to do to make sure there is still a functioning oil bypass?

Most vehicles have a oil filter bypasses built into them that will activate when the oil pressure gets too low. This will increase oil pressure but will also run unfiltered oil back through the motor.

Oil coolers with bypasses are designed so that the fluid does not run through the coolers until it reaches a certain temperature. This is great for colder climates.

BUT what I think you are referring to is a bypass filter which is basically a very intense oil filtration system that allows people to have very extended intervals between oil changes. I think this is what you are looking for and unfortunately we do not carry any of these.

For an oil cooler I would go with a Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15405 and then find a bypass filter somewhere else (I know Amsoil makes one) and you would have an awesome oil cooler and filtration system.
