Recommended Air Bags for Towing 5th Wheel With 2016 Ram 3500 Dually

Question:

I have purchased a 2016 Ram 3500 dually and will be hauling a heavy 38inch 5th wheel that has upward of 4000 pounds pin weight. Will this model - Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle Item # AL57595 - fit with dual rear wheels and also, is this 7500 pound model the right choice or would I be okay with the 5000 pound model? I would also be okay with a suitable Firestone model if they have a better product. Thanks.

The Air Lift LoadLifter 7500 XL Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57595 will fit your 2016 Ram 3500 dually. That being said, I would always choose Firestone if given the option. At 4,000 lbs you will be fine using a kit rated for 5,000 lbs as long as you don't think you will be getting close to exceeding that capacity.

For your truck I recommend the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted - Rear Axle # F2615. These air bags have a 5,000 lbs load-leveling capacity. They will increase stability and improve ride quality while towing your 5th wheel.

Firestone air bags feature a braided wire girdle which creates the double-convoluted shape of each air spring, increasing the burst pressure of the spring. The rubber springs are attached to corrosion-resistant metal end plates with a time-proven, rolled crimp seal that keeps the bags securely anchored. If you would feel better with the heavy duty option, the # F2710 is also available with a capacity of 7,500 lbs.

I would also recommend adding an air compressor like the Firestone Air Command II # F2219 so you can fill the air bags wherever you go. This is a dual path system which will allow you to level the air springs side to side, individually, or front to back. The dual gauge control panel will allow you to adjust the pressure from the cab of your truck.

I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
