Longest Weight Distribution Shank

Question:

I have an 18 F250 and pull a 37ft travel trailer that weighs roughly 9k. I use an Equalizer E4 WDH. I want to extend it maybe 8-12 inches. Enough to get my tailgate down. Also, if I turn sharp in a cul de sac the rear bed corner will bump the cap of the camper. The extender should help with this.

The longest weight distribution shake is the 18" Long Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Shank item # EQ90-02-4600. It has an 8" rise, a 4" drop, and has a 600 lbs - 1,400 lbs tongue weight range. I have linked a diagram of both this shank and the standard shank that comes with systems like the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System w/ 4-Point Sway Control item # EQ37120ET. We also have the 18" Long Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank Item # EQ90-02-4500 that only has a 7" rise and 3" drop. As you can see by the diagrams the longest shank only gains you 6 of the 8-12 inches you were looking for. This will address the issue you have with your turning radius but it may not be enough to allow your tailgate to fully open.

With your trailer weight this is going to be your only option. Unless your 2018 Ford F-250 Super Duty has a TorkLift SuperHitch item # TLF1008-30 and you can use the TorkLift SuperTruss Hitch Extension for SuperHitch Trailer Hitch Receivers - 48" Long item # TLE1548. None of the hitch extenders have a capacity as high as you need.
