What is the Maximum Weight I Can Transport with the Curt Cargo Basket # C18150 with the # C13427?
Question:
Hello… I just purchased the C13427 hitch to use with my C18150 hitch cargo carrier on 2022 Hyundai Palisade. I want to confirm my understanding of how to calculate total ‘cargo’ I can carry in the carrier. With the 750lb max tongue weight, the 54lb carrier weight, and the distance from the receiver to the back of the carrier approx 34”, I THINK the max cargo I can carry is about 200 pounds. That factors in max tongue weight, the 35” length from rear of vehicle to end of carrier, and weight of carrier. Thanks in advance for your help!!

With your 20 x 59 Curt Cargo Carrier for 2" Hitches - Steel - 500 lbs # C18150 and your Curt Hitch - 2" # C13427 on your 2022 Hyundai Palisade, you will be able to use the full 500 pound weight capacity of the cargo basket given you are not using any hitch extender or dual hitch adapter on your hitch. Since the measurement of the end of the basket to the center of the hitch pinhole of the basket does measure 31-13/16 inches long, Curt constructed the basket to accommodate the full 500 pounds with this length. You will be both within the capacity of the basket and the hitch.
However, it is important to note that you cannot exceed your 2022 Hyundai Palisades maximum tongue weight capacity. I recommend confirming with your vehicle's owner's manual to make sure that you can safely transport up to 500 pounds on your vehicle.
