In order to add a brake controller to your 1993 Suburban 2500 you will need to start by adding 4-way wiring. For this I recommend the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C55319. This wiring harness will plug into existing wiring and provide you with a 4-way connection to power your trailer's signal lights.
Once this is installed, you will be able to use the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7 to add a 7-way which will be needed for the brake controller and trailer brakes. This kit comes with the adapter, wiring, and everything else you will need to upgrade your 4-way to a 7-way. After installing your 7-way you will be able to add your brake controller.
I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller - Proportional # RED24FR. The main unit for this controller installs out of sight with only the control knob visible in the cab of your vehicle. The control knob allows you to adjust the braking power and also acts as a manual override. You will also need the Universal Wiring Harness # RED69FR to complete the installation.
I have attached some installation videos for your reference.
