How To Wire Up the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit

Question:

i am looking at this and wiring color does not go with the normal color coding of trailers that i have use for the past 20 years, is there a reason for this. Or sould I make my own. I like the fact that the plug is sealed for moisture but the color codeing does not line up with ind. standerds

In regards to the Trailer Wiring 7-Way Upgrade Kit part # HS381-9000, the terminals are actually labeled for you so it does not matter what color the wires are used with the junction for either side, just be sure to match by function and not color which any experienced technician should know to do. I have attached the wire color function chart of the junction box below. This is actually a standard known as "RV" but most trailers nowadays use "Traditional" I'll admit.

12 Volt Power (Battery Charge Line) - Black
Ground - White
Reverse - Yellow
Left Stop/Turn - Red
Taillights - Green
Right Stop/Turn - Brown
Trailer Brake Output - Blue
