Parts Needed to Add 7-Way to 2019 Ford F-150 With Factory 4-Way
Question:
So I have a 2019 F-150 without the tow package. I have a hitch and a 4 pin plug near the licence plate. I purchased a Ford OEM brake controller the switch with the plus and minus buttons on it that fits near the right hand side of the steering wheel, under the 4WD or switch. I plan on installing that this weekend. Now to control the brakes and the brake lights on a trailer, do you have a part or kit that can add a seven pin connector near my license plate? Does it need its own harness, or are you piggy-backing off of the 4 pin harness already on the truck? Regards

We do have a part that will allow you do add a 7-way to your 2019 Ford F-150. What you need is the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 118283. This wiring harness will plug into your factory tow port where the 4-way was installed using the T-One connector. So it does need a new harness, but the good news is this is a really simple installation compared to a lot of others.
When it comes to wiring, we have found Tekonsha to be the most reliable. It is for that reason that I would recommend this wiring harness over other brands. Once installed you will have a fully functional 7-way which will allow you to use your brake controller and power your trailer brakes.
Since this is just a 7-way and you will be losing the 4-way, you can always get an adapter like the Pollak 7 Pole to 4 Way Connector Adapter # PK12716. This will plug into your 7-way and allow you to power the lights on a trailer with a 4-way connection.
I have attached an installation video so you can see what the process is like.
