Can I Use Bearing Buddy's On My Mako Boat Trailer With Short Spindle

Question:

I have a 2012 Mako boat trailer it is paired with a Mako Pro 16 Skiff. This trailer has a short spindle rather than a full axle, and the grease nub sticks out of the end of the spindle. Is there a Bearing Buddy made to fit this type of hub?

It sounds like you have EZ lube spindles. You can remove the zerk fitting on your this spindle if you want to install a Bearing Buddy instead. The fitting is either screwed in or it is a compression fit. If it has wrench flats, it is screwed into your spindle. Keep in mind, Bearing Buddy's commonly let people overfill their hubs with grease, that can cause a blown seal. EZ lube spindles do a better job of getting the grease to your hub and they are less likely to be overfilled.

You can also measure your hub bore and the outer bearing, You would need a digital caliper, 4" Carbon Fiber Digital Caliper, part # PTW80157. These measurements are usually in inches. Once I have those measurements I can find the correct Bearing Buddy for your axles. For example, if one of your hub bores measured 2-1/4", and the inner and outer diameters measured .938" and 2.24", the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors - Model 2240 - Chrome Plated (Pair), part # BB2240, would fit that axle.

I have included product description links a video demo link, and a diagrams that shows how to measure the hub bore and outer bearing below.
