Is a 1,000 Pound Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System Good for an 8,251 Pound Trailer
Question:
I am buying a 2013 Lacrosse 323 RST 36 FEET 8 INCHES, conventional travel trailer, hitch weight 875, ship weight 8251, cargo weight 1699, have a 08 F 250 V8 5.4, 4.10 rear end. Dealer is throwing in the WD hitch system. Is this a fair, good, great or excellant hitch for this setup? Thank you very much for your assistance.

Curt systems are very popular and do work well. It is a good system. What you need to be concerned with on any weight distribution system is to get one that has the proper tongue weight capacity. For weight distribution you will need to go by the tongue weight of the trailer when loaded and ready to tow plus the weight of anything loaded behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
If you add it up and you are under the 1,000 pound tongue weight capacity of # C17322 then you are good to go. Otherwise, the next step up is a system rated for 1,200 pounds, # RP66560 which is a much better system for sway control, ground clearance, and backing up without disconnecting anything.
I have linked some instructions and FAQ articles for you on tongue weight and weight distribution.
