2015 Honda Pilot Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Fitment  

Question:

2015 honda pilot with only factory roof rails. If I purchase this huge basket do I need cross bars and if so which are recommended that have locks for this particular basket. Thanks

To mount the 84 x 50 Surco Safari Rack 5.0 Rooftop Cargo Basket for Yakima Roof Racks # SPS5084-Y400 to your 2015 Honda Pilot you need a roof rack with round crossbars and for that you can use the Yakima roof rack system which includes the following:

58" Round CrossBars - # Y00409
TimberLine Towers - # Y33TR
RoundBar SL Adapter - # Y03536
Lock Kit - # Y07204 (optional)

There isn't a lock for this basket option but you can use a cable lock like part # e98891 to wrap around the basket and your rails.

If you'd like to mount the Safari Rack 5.0 directly to the raised rails on your Pilot then you need part # SPS5060-1101 instead. This is a smaller basket measuring 60 x 50 but it comes with legs that clamp directly to the raised rails. This doesn't have a lock either but the clamps that come with it use a special tool to connect to the basket and raised rails so it's kind of a lock. You can still use that cable lock for this as well.
