Parts Needed To Complete A Flat Towing System For A 2017 Chevrolet Traverse With A Blue Ox Tow Bar
Question:
Hello. I have a Class C RV with a Blue Ox Towing System. I am trying to set up my 2017 AWD Chevy Traverse to be flat towed with the Blue Ox system. Would you please compile a list of product numbers that I need to achieve this? I know I need the base plate. What I am unsure of is the wiring...I would like to be able to plug wiring harness from rear of RV to the front of the Traverse. I would also like the breaks to engage on the Traverse when breaks are applied in the RV. Will you set me up with the wiring harness to achieve this? Thank you for your time.

The first part you will need is the baseplate. I prefer the direct mount option, so my recommendation is the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms, part # BX1706.This will connect directly to your 2017 Chevrolet Traverse.
You mentioned you need trailer wiring. I recommend the RoadMaster Falcon 2 and Falcon All-Terrain Combo Towing Kit with Straight Wiring, part # RM-9243-1. I like this wiring harness because it works on your vehicle whether you have the tow package or not. It comes with two fuse bypasses and a power cord. This will allow your supplemental braking system to bypass the flat-towed vehicle's battery. I do recommend using dielectric grease during this installation, part # 11755. This will connect your motorhome to your Chevrolet Traverse. You will be able to splice into your existing taillight wiring without any drilling. It also includes the safety cables you need.
I would use the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System - Proportional, part # BLU37TR. This is my choice for its ease of use and installation. It is a proportional braking system, so the vehicle you are flat towing will have its brakes applied at the same force you apply them in your motorhome.
You may have to use a hi-low adapter to keep your tow bar level while you are flat towing. I will included a weblink to all of our offerings below.
I have connected product description links, installation videos, video reviews, and helpful articles below.
