The main components needed to flat tow your 2014 Honda CR-V are a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. I have the following recommendations for you below:
Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates # e74ZR. This tow bar is specifically designed to fit Roadmaster direct-connect base plates. It features non-binding latches and telescoping, self supporting arms that make connecting and disconnecting your CR-V on any terrain a breeze. It has an adjustable head that tilts up or down 3" and the shank has a built-in 1-1/2" rise or drop to keep tow bar parallel with road while towing without the use of a high/low hitch adapter. It also comes with safety cables included.
Base Plate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521567-5. These direct-connect style attachment points provide a quick and easy hookup/removal. The arms are removable to provide a clean factory look when not in use.
Note: This Base Plate Kit does not fit models with extra bumper trim package.
Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit allows you to use your Honda CR-V's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV.
Fuse(s) must be pulled during towing. Please check owner's manual for which specific fuses need to be pulled; if your owner's manual says to only pull the #19 ACC radio fuse, use part # RM76511; if it states to pull the #19 ACC radio fuse and the #20 ACC key lock fuse, use part # RM76512.
Honda did have a misprint in their manuals so it may incorrectly display which location the 19 ACC fuse is located, I've attach a diagram below showing the correct location.
Braking System: The Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System # RM-8700 is a great choice for a permanently installed braking system. You'll get automatic, real-time braking in your Honda CR-V with the InvisiBrake. The actuator box installs permanently so that you never have to remove, adjust or reactivate it. The system connects to your Prism and only engages the car brakes when the RV brake lights illuminate, to eliminate any false braking.
I recommend also installing the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25 to keep your CR-V's battery charged. If your motorhome doesn't already have a dedicated line from the battery to the rear connection socket then you'll also need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes # RM-156-75
Safety Cables: Since the # e74ZR already has safety cables included you won't need to purchase any separately.
