Replacement 5TH Wheel Camper Pin Box That Will Allow For a Fixed 5TH Wheel Hitch In Short Bed Ram
Question:
I have a 2021 ram 2500. The ram dealer installed the puck system 5th wheel. It is a BW companion. None slider. Made a sharp turn broke out back window. Is there a longer king pin box I can put on my 2022 vanleigh 42’er or what options do u offer? Don’t want this to happen no more

First it sounds like you have a 6-1/2' bed on your 2021 Ram 2500 and the dealer should have installed a B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3670 rather than the fixed B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3600. The slider allows you to move the hitch back 12" in your bed when you need to make tight maneuvering turns.
You can swap your pin box on your 2022 Vanleigh 42' fifth wheel for a pivoting pin box like the Reese Sidewinder 5th Wheel King Pin # RP34FR. To ensure you get the correct pin box you will need to identify the bolt pattern of your current pin box. The pin box often has a tag that tells you the model number such as 1621. Or if you can find the LCI tag with the chassis information I can help you find the correct replacement pin box. The Sidewinder moves the pivot point from the hitch to the mounting point on the 5th wheel, which is 22" farther back. This will allow you to used a non slider 5th wheel hitch and not have to concern yourself with hitting your cab.
