Troubleshooting Brake Light Staying on With Curt 4-Way Wiring on 2017 Jeep Renegade
Question:
I installed this harness on a 2017 jeep renegade trailhawk. The lights are working correctly on the jeep but the passenger side brake light stays on on trailer. I checked the flat 4 pin connector with a test light on the curt wiring harness and the brake light stays on on the harness, I sent a message earlier asking about a problem with the trailer wiring harness on a 2017 jeep renegade. The passenger side brake light on the trailer stays on. I checked the green wire coming into the convertor box from the taillight and the test light was blinking properly. when I tested the green wire comming out of the convertor box to the trailer test light stayed on solid. .

Based on the problem you have described I recommend checking the ground connection on the # C56274. When one or more functions remains on like this that is typically the problem. You need to make sure that the ground wire is secure on a clean, bare metal surface. You could also try moving the ground wire to a different location.
If that is not the case, then based on your testing I would go ahead and say it is the converter box. Depending on where it is from and when you received it I would try to swap it out if possible. Otherwise it does come with a limited 1-year warranty.
I have attached a helpful article on troubleshooting 4-way installations for your reference.
