Should I Abide By the Vehicle's Maximum Tongue Weight or the Maximum Tongue Weight of the Hitch?

Question:

For a 2019 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate, the manufacturer states a tongue weight of 100lbs. The hitch tongue weight is much larger. So what tongue weight do I use Hyundais 100lbs or the one listed for the hitch?

When considering the maximum tongue weight capacity rating of the vehicle or the hitch, you should always go with whatever is the lowest of the two. For example, if you are considering the Draw-Tite Hitch - 2" # 75836 on your 2019 Hyundai Tucson Ultimate, the 100-pound capacity is the lowest factor compared to the 525 maximum tongue weight capacity of the # 75836. Putting more weight than the 100-pound maximum can greatly damage your vehicle and is extremely dangerous.
