Do You Need A Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch And A Rotating Pin Box For Short Bed Trucks
Question:
Yes I bought an 06 crew cab 1500 with 5.5 bed and I was told that the 5th wheel hitch I have got witch is a 15k Reese pro slider will work with my 5th wheel camper thats a 06 flag staff 28ft lite. But I was also told that need the sidewinder pin box. Well with that being said the pin box is out of the question. To rich for my blood lol. Can I still pull the faith wheel camper. With what set up I have and be ok. I wish with what I know now. I would of bought a different truck.

Since you have a 5.5 foot bed you will either need a rotating pin box or a Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider - Single Jaw - Above Bed - 13,000 lbs # DM8550040
The Demco is going to be your only option for a hitch unless you get a rotating pin box.
It is NOT recommended to use a sliding hitch and a rotating pin-box, you only need one not both. It is unsafe and dangerous.
