What Crossbars and Tracks do You Recommend for My Undercover Camper Shell?

Question:

Hello from Austin, Texas, I have a 2001 F150 SuperCrew with a hard shell Undercover on the 5 and a half foot bed. I want to include one of your track systems for additional carrying/storage flexibility actually mounted on the Undercover. Which version should I order? I will most likely also attach some kind of short luggage rack. Thank you,

Howdy from Wentzville, Missouri!

For your Undercover shell on your 2001 Ford F-150 supercrew with a 5-foot bed, the system you need depends on how much length and width you have on your shell. For example, If you have a longer shell with moderate width, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells - Track Mount - 54" # Y02-480B. This system comes with 62" tracks. For the optimum crossbars and track length, I recommend measuring the length and width of your Undercover shell.

It is important to note that the tracks on these systems can be cut down to size if you need to shorten them. Also, it is also important not to have crossbars that extend past the length of your side mirrors. Not only is this dangerous, it may be illegal in your municipality.

If you need a great compatible luggage rack/cargo basket with these two systems, I recommend the Rhino-Rack Roof Mounted Steel Cargo Basket - 47" Long x 35" Wide # RMCB. This basket comes with a front fairing to minimize wind resistance and has a heavy duty steel construction. If you need compatible cargo net, I recommend the # RLN1-RTD4.
