Replacement for 4,400 Pound Axles on Keystone Cougar Xlite 25RKS 5th Wheel
Question:
Hi there guys I have a keystone cougar xlite 25rks 5th wheeler with alko 4400lb axles I no they are not making that axle anymore and I has been suggested I go to a 5200lb axle but if I do that I will have to replace both axles. If I do its this way I only have to replace one with a bit of luck now is there a spindle stub axle to go with 10in 6stud 5.5 electric brake drums numbers 008-407-05 or 08-407-5uc3 with some I can get them parts and make a new axle up that way I only have to replace one axle I hope this makes sense please help me I dont now where else to go to Thanks

You are correct, 4,400 lb axles have basically gone away. There are no axles or spindles that use your # 8-407-5UC3-EZ hub and drum bearing combination either to try to fabricate a new axle. This means your only option will be to swap out the axles, which will also mean new hubs and drums, as well as brakes.
In order to find the correct axle length you will need the hub face to hub face measurement of your current axles. I suggest getting an axle that comes with everything like the Dexter Trailer Axle w/ Electric Brakes - E-Z Lube - 6 on 5-1/2 Bolt Pattern - 89" - 5,200 lbs # 8327820-EB if possible.
I have attached a link to all of our available 5,200 lb axles that you can check out. Once you know the length of your current axles you can filter down by the overall length to choose the correct one.
