Correct Roller Bunk Bracket for Mounting Roller Bunks on Tracker Trailstar Trailer

Question:

The trailer I want to install roller bunks is a Tracker Trailstar for a 17’5” bass tracker boat. It has 3 brackets that are welded to the frame to hold the 8’ wood-carpet bunks. I’m thinking I would want to replace those with 2 4ft bunks on each side. I’m concerned about the mounting bracket in the center. The welded brackets rise 3” above the trailer frame. I’m hoping to use part DL21742 for an attachment point in the center, between the 2 - 4’ roller bunks. My concern is I can’t tell from the dimensions listed what the minimum rise is of the bracket. My thought is to drill a hole thru the welded bracket on the trailer, and use DL21742 with a u-bolt for the other side. Will this part work? Or is there a better solution I haven’t considered? Thanks!

Based on what you are describing the Boat Trailer Roller Bunk Bracket for Dutton-Lainson Roller Bunks Parts # DL21742 will likely work. From the top of the mounting slot to the top of the bracket is approximately 2-3/4" so you should be able to get it at the 3" height you're looking for.

The only potential problem is that this may vary depending on the mounting hardware used since the mounting hardware may be in contact with the swivel at varying heights depending on the size of washers/nuts/bolt heads. For mounting with U-bolts I recommend the # CE15283GA.

The only better solution I have is to replace all of your brackets with the # DL21742 which will ensure everything is at the same height and prevent you from having any potential issues. If your existing brackets are older this would be a good idea regardless.
