Do Fifth Wheel Hitches Mount To The Truck Frame Or The Truck Bed
Question:
Does fifth wheel hitches mount to the bed an not to the frame ?

Expert Reply:
All fifth wheel hitches like the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 16,000 lbs # BWRVK3200 will in one way or another connect to the frame of the truck or tow vehicle.
This hitch will attach to rails that are above the bed. These rails will connect to the frame of the truck using the included hardware that comes in a kit like the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit for Chevy/GMC - Carbide Finish # C16418-204.
Other kits or OEM prep packages will have below the bed rails that some hitches will just drop into and lock into place.
You can reply back or ask a new question from our website. Give us the year make and model of your truck and if it has a short bed or long bed. If it is a RAM we need to know if it has RAM boxes. Also let us know the RV you will be hauling.
