Recommended Wiring Harness To Avoid Splicing on 1991 Toyota 4Runner

Question:

91 4runner SR5. Vehicle has the tow kit but not the wiring. I am looking for something that I can remove the existing tail lights and plug into the harness with out disrupting or splicing into the existing wiring. I am wondering if etrailer might have a product for this or a suggestion. Thank you for your help.

We do have one option for a wiring harness that does not require splicing which is the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT. This uses zero-contact interface sensors to identify the current flowing through each wire by simply clamping onto the wire. This is typically used on vehicles with sensitive electrical components.

Unfortunately, there is no plug and play option for a wiring harness like you described that fits your vehicle.. If you would rather not use the Tekonsha ZCI wiring harness your only other option would be something like the Curt Powered Tail Light Converter with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C59236. This will use quick splice connectors to splice into your vehicle wiring for installation.
