Can I Re-Use DICO-15638 Hubs with New Electric Brake Assemblies?
Question:
I have a 1997 Shorelandr trailer that has an original hydraulic brake system that no longer works. Can I reuse my existing DICO-15638 hydraulic brake hubs with new electric brake assemblies? If so, will any 10 inch by 2-1/4inch electric assembly work provided it attaches to my axle?

Expert Reply:
Some hub/drum assemblies can accept either electric or hydraulic brakes and some can only accept one or the other. It has to do with the size or in your case how the drums are cast. Some drums have uneven castings and you need a smooth inside of your drum with electric brakes so the magnets can make full contact and engage the brakes.
