Solution for Replacement Spring Bars for Discontinued Pro Series Weight Distribution Hitch
Question:
I have a pro series weight distribution with trunion bars, chain style. Its rated 600 lbs. I recently purchased a new trailer and need to upgrade the spring bars, and I need to know if the curt replacements will fit, which ones to get. Hitch weight dry is 600, so not sure if I go with 800 or 1000. Please help. Trailer in question is a 2022 coachmen apex nano 208bhs off grid.

The Pro Series weight distribution hitch you have now has been discontinued. I reached out to Horizon Global and they no longer make spring bars for you to replace them. If you can find the correct spring bars you can certainly replace what you have, but they will have to be for the Pro Series. You cannot use another brands spring bars for this weight distribution hitch. If you can't find any, your best option would be a new WDH.
When it comes to choosing a WDH tongue weight is the most important factor. It looks like the dry tongue weight for the 2022 Coachmen Apex Nano 208BHS is 596 lbs and the GVWR is 6,000 lbs. You want to choose based on the loaded tongue weight. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight. In order to find out exactly what you have I would recommend measuring with a scale like the # e99044.
Ideally you want your tongue weight to be in the middle of the tongue weight range of the WDH. This holds true for the replacement spring bars as well. If you found some, you would probably be looking at 1,000 lbs. Using your GVWR your tongue weight will likely be 600-900 lbs. Based on that dry tongue weight I'm going to say it will hit the high end of 900 when loaded.
For a WDH that would cover what you need I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control - Trunnion - 10,000 lbs GTW, 1,000 lbs TW # FA92-00-1000. This system has a tongue weight range of 600-1,000 lbs so it would work well loaded and unloaded. You would also need # A-90 for a 2" ball or # 63840 for a 2-5/16" ball. A 1-7/8" Thin walled socket # ALL643216 is recommended for hitch ball installation.
I have attached some review videos along with some helpful articles on measuring tongue weight and weight distribution that you can check out.
