What Brake Controller do You Recommend for My 2012 Dodge Ram 3500?

Hey guys. I bought I nice used 2012 dodge 3500 and I can’t believe it didn’t come with a brake controller. My question is. If I order one oem. Will it plug right in ?? Thx for all your help.

Even though I do not have the specific specs of an OEM option for a brake controller on a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500, but we do have brake controllers you can install on your setup. The first thing you need to do is determine if your vehicle has a 4-way and a 7-way wiring harness equipped already.

If you determine that you need wiring for a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Harness - 4-Way # 119178KIT. This will prep your truck with all the required wiring to install a 7-way connector for the controller. Once the 4-way is installed, you then need to install the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat # ETBC7L. With this 7-way, you will be able to splice into your current setup on your truck.

For the brake controller itself, I recommend the Curt Echo # C51180. This controller is a proportional controller which means that the controller activates the trailer brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action. The great thing about the Curt Echo is that it allows you to control the settings of your controller with the ease of your Smart device. As far as installation, it simply plugs into your 7-way plug without the need of any additional wiring or vehicle-specific harnesses.
