Rack System For RetraxPRO XR Tonneau Cover on 2020 Ford F-150 Short Bed For Yakima Cargo Box

Question:

Hi I want to put the deep space box on the back of my 2020 Ford F150 Platinum short box. I have a RetraxPRO XR cover. Id like to put two cross bars across the bed, as low to the Retrax cover as possible, then mount this box parallel to the length of the bed behind the drivers side. Will that work? What kind of crossbars do I need? What kind of mounts/feet to go in the Retrax rails for the crossbars do I need? How about locks for the feet/rails? Thanks!!!

Yes, it will indeed work, and we can get you set up with everything you need to mount the cargo box on your 2020 Ford F-150 short bed with the RetraxPRO XR Hard Tonneau Cover # RTT-80373.

Since you want the rack system to lock and be as low profile as possible, what you will need is a set up from Rhino-Rack that is designed specifically for the XR tonneau cover, which will allow you to mount the DeepSpace cargo box. The part numbers for both are the following:

- Rhino-Rack Vortex Crossbar System for Retrax XR Series and Mountain Top EVO-M Tonneau Covers # RRVA180B-RRRLT600

- Yakima DeepSpace 10 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y65RR

The # RRVA180B-RRRLT600 will mount directly in the T-slots of your Retrax tonneau cover, and the legs are just 3" tall, with the crossbars on top being 1-3/16" tall, so the top of the crossbars would be less than 5 inches above your bed rails.

That's the lowest possible profile for a rack system on your bed cover, and the legs have locks built in (it also comes with two keys) to secure them to the rails. You can position the crossbars at different spreads along the T-slots, so you just need to make sure they are between 32" and 46" to mount the DeepSpace cargo box. After that, just clamp the box around the crossbars and you'll be ready to hit the road.
