Which Wire on Brake Assembly is Normally Power and Ground

Question:

I am putting a new seven pin harness on my used trailer that I just bought I have a white and blue wire for my electric brakes using my own meter I put one pin on the blue and one on the white it made a connection is that supposed to happen or do I have a short I know that the blue wire goes to the blue wire on the harness I’m assuming the white is a ground

Brake assembly wiring isn't polarity sensitive which means either wire on the magnet can be a positive or negative but in general the blue color is for the output circuit and white is ground so that is most likely what you have. There isn't anything between these circuits that would prevent continuity so what you are experiencing is normal.
