Base Plate Kit for a 2014 Ford Explorer to Use a Blue Ox Rangefinder Tow Bar

Question:

I have a BLUE OX BX4322 RANGEFINDER II tow bar available to use. I know this is an older tow bar that has been discontinued. Are there baseplates for a 2014 Ford Explorer that would work well with this tow bar and if so which ones?

We do have a base plate kit that fits the 2014 Ford Explorer and would allow you to use your Blue Ox BX4322 Rangefinder tow bar. You would need the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 4427-1A and the Blue Ox Rangefinder II or III Tow Bar to Roadmaster Base Plates Adapters # RM-037. The Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 4427-1A will only work for your Explorer if it is not the 2.0L EcoBoost model. If you have the 2.0L EcoBoost then please let me know and I can make a different recommendation.

Just to be sure you have taken all parts needed to flat tow your Explorer into consideration, I have listed the other main parts needed below.

Safety Chains: Roadmaster 64" Single Hook, Straight Safety Cables # RM-645

Tow Bar Wiring: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 and Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-156-25

Supplemental Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # HM39524

You will also want to consult the owners manual for your 2014 Ford Explorer to ensure you are following all requirements/recommendations for flat towing.
