What Posistion Do I Need To Keep My B and W Uprights In For My Fifth Wheel Head

Question:

I purchased a RVK3600 for my 2022 Ram 3500 with 8foot bed. I installed it in the 18inch position with the uprights in the furthest position towards the cab with the flat part towards the cab not the angled part. Can you tell me if this is the best position? I have about 7inch to 8inch clearance. Or should I turn the angled part to face the cab and move it away from the cab by 2? Thanks

When it comes to the position of the hitch and its components. You have to ask a serious question. Will this damage my property if I use it like this?

It has the different settings to adjust for clearance so you don't bang up your truck or RV.

Best thing you can do with the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Ram Towing Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 25,000 lbs # BWRVK3600 is simply hook up the way you have it and find an open area to test it out. Make sharp turns and see where if you have any areas that will touch.

If you need more room then move it forward. If you run it through all the turns and angles and nothing touches you will be ok to leave it there.

If you are clear in any position I recommend you position the uprights so that the load will be as close to the axle as possible to make sure the truck is properly supporting the weight from the 5th wheel.

Here is the formula we use to determine the amount of space you need to make a 90 degree turn.

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from the fifth wheel jaw center to the truck cab
B = Offset used (slider clearance or Sidewinder offset)
C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2
