Does Hopkins VueSMART Camera Kit Require Phone Data to Function

Question:

Does this unit have to communicate with my phone through a WiFi router, which I do not have installed in our RV? Or does the camera communicate directly with my phone using its own WiFi signal?

The VueSmart RV Camera Kit part # HM34FR emits it's own wifi signal which your phone connects to and does not require any network data.
