Solution for Replacing 6-Way Square Connector for Trailer that Needs Battery Charged

Question:

6-Pole Square Trailer Wiring Connector Kit Car and Trailer Ends Item # 37995 This popped up as a replacement for my Arctic Fox Camper wiring. I need the truck side plug. This would appear to work except it says 18 gauge only whereas the harness I have missing the broken negative pin has 10 gauge for what I assume the line to charge the camper battery And the Ground wire. The others appear to be maybe 18 g. Can the 18 gauge handle charging the battery? And the lighter ground? Thanks. And while I am asking do you have a tool you would recommend for cleaning the pins/sockets? Once I get this fixed I will probably just keep it hooked up to the camper at all time to avoid wear and tear. Thanks,

All of the wires of the 6-way square part # 37995 are 18 gauge so this would not be ideal for use with a trailer that needs a battery charge circuit. I'd recommend switching the trailer and tow vehicle to a 7-way that you could use with a heavier gauge wire.

On the trailer side the easiest way to pull that off is with the part # 277-000141. Then on the tow vehicle side you'd want a 7-way like the # C58155 and you'd be set. If you need any 10 gauge wire we also have the part # 10-1-1 which is 10 gauge wire sold by the foot.
