Replacement Dust Cap for Motorcycle Trailer

Question:

Hi I bought a used motorcycle trailer and saw that it was missing the dust caps. However when I got it home and had a closer inspection I found that 1.98 cap was too big and 1.78 was too small so I figure a 1.94 might work but the axle stub extends a good 1.25 inches from the hub face so think it might be a problem to find a dust cap that is deep enough to seat and fit over the axle end. Would you be able point me in a direction? Thanks

The first thing I would do is go ahead and measure to take the guess work out of the size. Using a digital caliper like the # PTW80157 you will need to measure the center of the hub where the grease cap will fit. I attached a diagram below showing where to measure.

Since you will already be measuring, you can go ahead and measure how far out the axle stub extends to compare to height measurements on grease caps. You may also need to contact the manufacturer of the trailer to find or purchase a replacement part. It isn't uncommon for small trailers like this to require very specific parts that are hard to find and can only be acquired through the manufacturer.

I have attached a link to all of our available grease caps that you can check out and filter down by size after taking measurements.
