Can I Mix Ply or Speed Rating Tires On My Trailer?
Question:
I have three 8 ply tires on my 24ft travel trailer and one 6 ply which is rated an L for speed. Will this be a problem

Expert Reply:
The speed rating "L" means that the tire is rated for 75 mph. I'm not sure the speed rating for your 8 ply tires but as long as you don't exceed the speed rating of the least rated tire you won't need to worry about that being the cause of a damaged tire.
With that being said, to get the best performance out of your trailer tires you want to make sure they are all the exact same. It's acceptable to use a different tire to hobble along to a trailer shop if you have blowout but only in an emergency situation. If your other 3 tires are 8 play radial then I recommend using something that matches better like the Karrier # AM10256 (provided your tires are 225/75R15).
If you can let me know what size and brand tires you have I can help you find a replacement from the linked selection.
